Global Use Case 1 - Retrieve and Save a Dataset from a Study

The steps in this global use case are:

  1. Display the list of available studies as a tree
  2. Select a study and display its data (or observation units) by dataset (or in ICIS, they are called "effects")
  3. Select, retrieve and display evaluation data given the germplasm and the study

Studies Tab

Step 1 of the studies global use case was implemented in the study folder view tab(Figure 1). User is provided with an option to search by study name (Figure 2).

Clicking on a tree node retrieves the information about that study such as the datasets (figure 3).

The user has the option to view the details of a dataset as a "simple table". When the user clicks the "Submit" button, the "Study Observation Units" Display tab (or Dataset Display tab) view (see Figure 5) is displayed. A table containing details about all the study factors is provided as well as that for study variates (the user can opt to make these tables be hidden or visible).

This is the Step 3 of the studies global use case. A closer look at the study observation units table is shown on Figure 5. This is the result of a dataset loading operation in the form of a scrollable view of observationUnit entries. It is assumed that a suitable paging mechanism is provided for large datasets.Columns may be sorted, as well as shown/hidden (this option is shown by doing a right click on the table headers) and rearranged.

Finally, users can download all data in comma-separated text format or CSV format (see Figure 6).
